Lewistown

Surrounded by rich farmland and beautiful forested mountain ranges, Lewistown lies in the scenic Juniata River Valley in the heart of central Pennsylvania. Lewistown retains the charm of its rustic surroundings, which yearly attract thousands of sportsmen and outdoors enthusiasts to the area's fine hunting, fishing, and camping facilities. A large Amish population that thrives on the farmland of the Kishacoquillas Valley has contributed greatly to the area's culture and heritage.

General Information
This information will help you during your stay at the Lewistown Academy. If you have questions that are not answered here or contact the training program coordinator on 717-447-1231.

Class Times
On the first day of your course please meet at the side of the building under the pavilion no more than a half hour before starting time. Class begins at 8:00 AM and finishes at 5:00 PM.

Study Material
Please bring to class a scientific calculator and any study material you may have from previous classes in this NDT method.

Student Badges
On your first day of class, you will receive a badge, which must be worn at all times while you are on GE property. The badge will allow you to travel unescorted to your classroom, the cafeteria, restrooms. Travel to other parts of the building or other GE locations requires a GE escort. On your last day of class, it is important that you return your badge and the plastic badge holder.

Cameras
Cameras, video recorders and audio recording devices are not allowed.

Food Services
A hot or cold lunch can be purchased at the cafeteria from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Monday - Friday. Vending machines are located in the break area adjacent to the cafeteria. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the premises of any GE facility.

Cell Phones
You will be asked to either turn off or mute your cell phone during class.  The accepting of and sending calls is strictly at the discretion of the instructor and will only be granted in cases of dire emergency

  • Start out going NORTHWEST on ramp toward AIRPORT CONN.
  • Merge onto AIRPORT CONN.
  • Stay STRAIGHT to go onto PA-283 W.
  • Merge onto I-283 N toward HARRISBURG.
  • I-283 N becomes I-83 N / US-322 W.
  • Merge onto I-81 S / US-322 W via EXIT 51A on the LEFT toward CARLISLE / LEWISTOWN.
  • Merge onto US-22 W / US-322 W via EXIT 67 toward LEWISTOWN.
  • Merge onto US-22 toward US-22 W / LEWISTOWN.
  • Turn LEFT onto INDUSTRIAL PARK RD.

From University Park Airport
  • Start out going SOUTHWEST on FOX HILL RD toward ALEXANDER DR.
  • FOX HILL RD becomes FOX HOLLOW RD.
  • Turn LEFT onto E PARK AVE.
  • Merge onto US-322 E toward LEWISTOWN.
  • Take the US-522 S exit toward MT UNION / EAST CHARLES ST.
  • Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto US-522.
  • Merge onto US-22 W / US-522 S / WILLIAM PENN HWY.
  • Turn LEFT onto INDUSTRIAL PARK RD.
